Welcome, bunnies!

Today we brought two bunnies home to join our family, and the 3LB crew. We got a white dwarf "hotot" rabbit. The hotot breed is sometimes called "eyes of fancy", as they are all white with black eyeliner. Our little hotot, who is named Margot, is blind in one eye. We hope this helps the birds be extra kind to her and learn a little bit about being blind.

We also got a dwarf Holland lop. She is 2 months old and named Ida. She is very sweet and very relaxed.

Both bunnies seem to be at home already, and we can't wait for all the birds to meet them! We are excited to teach the birds about bunny care, being gentle, being sensitive to Margot's blind eye, and how to carefully hold and love a rabbit. We will introduce a feeding chart, and have a few rabbit care books and magazines on hand for the birds to read and learn more. We think having animals here is an exceptional way for the children to learn about compassion, kindness, gentle touches, and respect and responsibility for all life.

Stay tuned this week for lots of bunny blogs, and adorable pics of all the kiddos making friends with Margot and Ida!
