Play is a child's work.

I love this series of photos. I love that this entire activity was child initiated, as they worked hard to create a witch's brew in the sensory table. I love when we get to just observe and document such spontaneous and creative endeavors. I love that the younger kids imitate the older children and are learning from them, and that the older kiddos support them in their play. I love all the concentration, and effort, and work happening....all for the sake of a sludgy, muddy mixture. And, in the end, I love that they all cozied up in the pallet house on top of hay and wool mats and cuddled into blankets to have snack together.
